Local and economic network

Beyond its diversity and dynamic approach, the Country network features a high density of small companies. As of January 2005, more than 9 companies would employ less than 10 workers; out of the 190 remaining companies, only 17 employed more than 100 workers. Moreover, such economic network remains quite dependant: Out of the strong number of sub-contractors, 49% of staff members (as of 42% at the region level) are employed by companies which are connected to decision-making centres outside the territory.

On the other hand, as in the field of rural activity, one of the main issue for staff members of the Craftsmanship Industry and Employment Chamber is to attract new business managers. Such an issue is less important as regards industry, but it is quite a major issue in the field of craftsmanship and trade. According to data provided by the Department of Craftsmanship, more than one active craftsmanship business manager was over 55 years in January 1, 2005 within the Area.

We already anticipated on economic challenges and transformations via the implementation of federating actions at the scale of the Country: supporting the implementation of high-quality farming production (wheat produced over the area, etc.) investigation for development of services employment among farming industries, forums with a view to creating and taking over companies over the years 2005 and 2006, attending the Company Manager Business Club as well as the farming and food Industry Supplier Business Association, in 2006-2007. We also started and implemented a specific help in order to provide assistance to any business managers willing to start working in the field of services or technologies, called « Ploermel Broceliande Technologies »“ It also accounts with real estate building possibilities, which did not exist before and which is now specifically fitted for welcoming service companies.
