Sharing information

For the past two years, the « Pays de Ploermel-Cœur de Bretagne » has been thinking over all problems that foreigners have to cope with to get settled in the area of “Pays de Ploermel-Coeur de Bretagne”, as for work or social integration with economic partners (Maison de L’Emploi, (Employment Office, Community of towns…) According to the various investigations that were carried out, non-speaking newcomers will find improvements in all the scope of help provided.

First initiatives

The « Country » is fully aware of such a challenge and is a major partner of Brit’Mag. This Guide for newcomers is written in French and English. Counsellors are also bilingual. In this view, non-French speakers may take French classes as a foreign language.

Efficient partnership

AREP offers a new approach in 2007 all over the area which consists in teaching French; they have a capacity for 50 students, whatever age and social level; an 80-hour-course is enough to provide them with the minimum level of French that may bee needed. Besides French language and French civilization classes, French staff members are trained in English in town halls, shops, Income Revenue and Tax Offices. Such classes are taught in Le Porhoet, Mauron, Josselin, Val d’oust, Lanvoux and Guer, with a maximum of ten students per class. This programme was set up in partnership with the Community of towns and cyber centres over the area.

Long-term project

Next year, if AREP are successful and the number of students is reaching the required number, this association will start over on the same basis without the help of Leader+.
